A Firsthand Account of the Admissions Interview Process

You have finally decided on your major, and after much consideration, you have chosen the perfect college that will give you the extra edge you need in this competitive world.

I know that because after much consideration, and a pros and cons list, I decided to try my luck and apply in one of Kerala’s top institutes, Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (CVV). Located in the picturesque Ernakulam, you can travel to the city either by rail or air. For more details about travelling please refer to their website, www.cvv.ac.in.

Why I Choose CVV?

The human mind has always fascinated me. I wanted to understand the logic behind how we think and do things. It has been one of the many reasons why I wanted to pursue my dream and enrolled in CVV’s BSc Applied Psychology (Hons.) programme.

Apart from this industry-ready programme, CVV offers a plethora of job-ready programmes that can be suitable for you. To know more about the courses you can visit their website. CVV have many feathers in its cap including:

  • Fully-paid global internship opportunities
  • 200+ scholarships for meritorious students
  • Unique blend of Indian and modern curriculum
  • State-of-the-art facility on Warriam Road, Kochi
  • Highest 9 paper exemptions from ACCA-UK with BCom (Hons.)
  • Only university to offer a 4-year integrated BEd programme

But today, I’ll like to talk about the admission process. Any college interview process can be nerve-racking. The interview process gives the college you’re applying to another opportunity to evaluate your performance and candidature as well as help them determine whether or not to offer you admission.

However, CVV’s college interview process is not that scary if you know what to expect.

At CVV, you will find a cutting-edge curriculum blended with the right dose of Indian wisdom; masterfully designed by some of the best faculty. You get to meet students from different walks of life on a campus that offers a rich campus life.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The application process is quite simple if you read their website. Instructions for filling out the application form are listed in detail at https://www.cvv.ac.in/how-to-apply. Below you will find a pictorial representation of the admissions process:

The entire interview process is conducted in English to make the process easier for all. I hailed from Lucknow and one of the biggest fears that I had before applying to CVV was whether we’ll be able to communicate with each other or not.

The faculty, as well as the admissions team, are kind and accommodating. Once my application was accepted and I received my interview call, I was elated that finally, I would be able to enrol in my first choice of college. If you are an Indian resident like me, then you need to provide original copies of relevant documents before the interview process, which include:

  • 10th standard (or equivalent) mark sheet or certificate, as the case may be.
  • 12th standard (or equivalent) mark sheet or certificate, as the case may be. (Applicants awaiting their 12th standard results may furnish these on or before 10 August 2022)
  • Any other certificates, transcripts, and testimonials. (These documents may have relevance in assessing the candidature.)
  • Identification card (Aadhaar Card)

However, if you are an international student, then you need to provide the said documents (original copy) before the interview begins

  1. VISA: All international students require a ‘Student VISA’ endorsed by CVV for joining full-time programmes. No other endorsement is acceptable. Students wishing to join a research programme will require a ‘Research VISA’ endorsed by CVV. The visa should be valid for the prescribed duration of the programme. Visa may be obtained after issuing an offer of admission.
  1. A visa is not required for NRI students. Students who are doing full-time programmes, in some other institutions, do not require a separate visa for joining ‘Part Time courses’ provided that their current visa is valid for the entire duration of the course.
  1.  International students wishing to undertake any research work or join an MSc/MPhil/ PhD programme will have to obtain prior security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the approval of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and this must be on the student visa/research visa endorsed to this institution.
  1. TC/CC – A letter of recommendation from their respective foreign school/ University with an official seal and signature (either registrar/ head of the institution).
  1. FRRO registration is to be done after the student joins the course.

Admission to CVV is merit-based. However, financial aid is need-based. An applicant’s need for financial aid will not affect their selection for the programme. They offer 200+ merit, sports and need-based financial aid to students from all walks of life. Need-based financial aid will be assessed by CVV for several students and up to such extent of aid as is permissible from the endowments created by the Vishwa Vidyapeeth. All financial aid is at the absolute discretion of the CVV management.
